Obituary for Donald B. Darby

Donald B.  Darby
Webb City, Mo. Donald B. Darby, age 81, of Webb City, Mo. passed away at 10:45 p.m. Sunday, February 5, 2017 at the Mo. Veterans Home in Mt. Vernon, Mo. Don was born March 27, 1935 in Carthage, Mo., the son of John and Peggy Darby, and had lived in Webb City most of his adult life. Don established Toner Connection and formerly owned Copy Systems, retiring in 2007. Don served his country in the U. S. Marine Corp, serving as a Military Policeman in Japan. He was a member of Christ’s Church of Oronogo. Don served on the Webb City Council for 14 years and had previously served on the Planning and Zoning Commission. He served as an officer with the Webb City Babe Ruth Baseball Program. He volunteered for 2 years as a companion for Camp Quality, and was also a volunteer for Webb City’s Meals on Wheels Program. Don was an avid Webb City cardinal fan.

Don married Wanda Marrs September 3, 1960 in Webb City and she survives. Additional survivors include a son, Keith Darby and wife Debbie, one daughter, Gina Stevens and husband Phil, and four grandchildren; Garrett Gallion, Shelby Stevens, Austin and Addison Darby, all of Webb City, one brother, Ronald Darby and wife Barbara, Joplin, one sister, Becky West and husband Wally, Webb City, and a sister in law, Carole Darby, St. Simon Island, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, John Darby. Don loved his family, and was proud of his children. His grandchildren were the light of his life.

Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday at Christ’s Church of Oronogo Worship Center with Ken Ansley and Lynn Ragsdale, Ministers, officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday at the North Student Ministry Center Building at Christ’s Church of Oronogo. Memorial Contributions are requested to Camp Quality, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, or the Shriner’s Hospital in care of the Mortuary. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mason-Woodard Mortuary of Joplin, Mo.
