Condolences

Condolence From: Zach Tusinger
Condolence: One of the best teachers I had while at Joplin High School, RG was always pushing her students to excel. I was fortunate enough to have her for a year of World History during my sophomore year. I still have my notes and outline from that class. More important than the things she taught us about the world -- she had high expectations for her students and pushed us to set high expectations for ourselves.

Condolence From: Anita J Henson
Condolence: I knew Mrs. Robinson-Gray because my children had her as a teacher at JHS. My son, Robert Henson said she was the BEST teacher he had in all his educational life which went from Kindergarten to Law School. When I called him yesterday to tell him of her passing he repeated, "Best Teacher Ever!" My daughter felt the same way about her. She will be doing her teaching up in Heaven, for sure. God Bless the family at this time of loss of this GREAT woman.

Condolence: Ms. RG... you were a shining star among educators. You were what everyone who wants to be a teacher dreams of being. Yes, you were good at teaching the subject at hand... but above and beyond that you were a planter of thoughts in students minds. Thoughts that were bigger and greater than ourselves. Students soaked up your honesty and experience which you so freely gave to keep with us throughout our lives. I didn't have the smoothest high school experience. You were the only teacher I ever had that looked at me like a real person and when you noticed me struggle, you talked me through it without condescension or judgement... and more importantly YOU NOTICED when no one else did. I don't know if you ever knew how much it meant to me at that time in my life and beyond. I thought many times about visiting you and telling you, but I knew how busy you probably were and so I never did. I wish I had. For all you've done for so, so many... for all you taught me and the kindness you showed me... Thank you. 💜

Condolence: Mrs. Robinson-Gray was one of the most inspiring teachers that I ever had in all my years of education. She inspired high school students to be prepared for college and for our futures. She challenged young people to be active in the system. She treated each of us with dignity and respect as young adults expecting the young adults to act as adults. Always referring to her students as “Mr. or Ms.” and encouraging debate on any subject even if she didn’t agree, always allowing your point to be presented. After leaving school when she greeted you in the community she always inquired how your life had changed or grown and continued to challenge you to reach even higher. Betty Robinson-Grey is truly a great lady that this community will never be able to replace, we as a community now have a huge void that I know she would encourage us to fill, yet no one could ever fill the footprints and pathways that she set for us all. My prayers are for Betty, her family, her many friends and the greater community as a whole that she shepherded leading us and nurturing us over the many years of her education career. She will always be loved and now greatly missed.
