Obituary for Shirley Ann Edwards (Young)

Shirley Ann Edwards, age 81, of Ozark, Mo passed away Thursday at The Baptist Home in Ozark, Mo. She was born February 10, 1935 in Joplin, Mo the daughter of Emmett and Della “Durham” Young. Shirley graduated from Joplin High School and then earned her Associates degree from Southwest Baptist College. She married Charles Edwards on May 11, 1952. She worked as an Administrative Assistant for Spring River Baptist Association in Joplin, Mo for many years until her retirement. She was a member Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church Ozark, Mo.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Galen L. Young Sr. and Harold D. Young and nephew Galen L. Young Jr. survivors include her husband of 64 years and 3 months Charles R. Edwards, Major US Army retired, retired pastor Ozark, Mo, a son Billy Edwards, Joplin, Mo, granddaughter Stephanie D. Sheldon and her husband Kent Sheldon Chicago, Il, great granddaughters, Abigael and Alicen Sheldon Chicago, Il, two nieces, and two nephews.
Graveside Services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday August 13, 2016 at the Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery Joplin, Mo. The family suggests contributions to the Baptist Home or Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church in care of the Mortuary. Arraignments entrusted to the Mason-Woodard Mortuary.
