Obituary for William Roy

William D. “Bill” Roy, age 67 of Joplin, passed away on Thursday May 7, 2015, at his home surrounded by his family, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Bill was born on August 15, 1947 in Joplin, the son of the late Elmer and Violet (Stogsdill) Roy. He has been a lifetime Jasper County resident. He married Polly Pierce on October 8, 1966 in Joplin. Since 1979 they have owned and operated Southwest Machine & Supply, Inc. He began his career in that industry at Scott Supply. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, he loved to watch birds and wildlife, and spending time with his family at Beaver Lake.
He is survived by his wife of forty-eight years, Polly Roy, Joplin; two sons, Brent Roy and wife Jennifer, Burleson, Tx., and Andy Roy and wife Kim, Joplin; one daughter, Carolyn Corle, Jasper, Mo.; four brothers, Richard Roy and wife Wynell, Godley, Tx., Danny Roy and wife Twyla, Luther, Ok., Mike Roy and wife Rita, Alba, Mo., and Tom Roy and wife Barbara, Alba, Mo.; sister-in-law, Sharon Roy, Ft. Worth, Tx.; and eight grandchildren, Ashley Roy, Blair Roy, Chet Corle, Katie Roy, Alex Corle, Andrew Corle, Hallie Corle, and Payton Roy.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at Mason-Woodard Chapel. Dale Ogelsby and Tom Roy will officiate. Burial will be at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at Reddick Cemetery in Garfield, Ar. The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Monday at the mortuary.
Arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
