Mike was a great history teacher at Granby Middle School; he was passionate about his students learning what makes our nation great! I first met Mike while teaching at Granby and enjoyed co-teaching projects with him. His gratitude for our military people was from a most sincere heart and his example of honor to all our armed forces was superior! He was a great friend and I will truly miss him! Fly high Coach Sturgis! 🙏🏻💗🦋🌈

I remember getting him started talking about sports when we had an assignment that we didn't wanna do. It was very easy to get him off on another subject. I'm honored to know him in person & to had him as a social studies teacher from when he taught granby jr high.

Some people you meet in your life are just special to you even if you are on the same path for a short time. Coach Sturgis was one of those people to me. I liked him from the day I watched him take a group of middle school boys in practice and make them take turns saying something nice to one another and take it seriously. It was extraordinary.

He still called me on a near-weekly basis always asking how my sons Gavin & Will were doing at Colgan. We would reminisce a lot. "Remember when Gavin lined up at quarterback, fumbled three times, and then ran for a touchdown." Yes, Sturgis I remember and relive that moment in my head all the time. And then we would always talk about what we would have accomplished coaching together. I would have loved to find out and it would have been a privilege coach.

Here's to one great man who was one of the more caring people I've met. RIP Coach Sturgis. Heaven gained an angel.
