Obituary for Billy Ray Alford
Billy Ray Alford, age 88, of Carl Junction, Missouri passed away Monday May 15, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family.
Billy was born October 6, 1934, in Diamond, Missouri, son of the late John Albert Alford and Irene Rachel Smith Alford.
He attended Carl Junction High School. Billy worked for Missouri Steel Casting, Wayne Daniels Trucking, and Carl Junction School District, finally retiring in June of 2004. Bill attended church in Webb City, Missouri with his beloved granddaughter, Jordyn Alford, before joining Grace Church of Joplin, Missouri. Billy loved his gardening and spending countless hours with his granddaughter. He took many family vacations with his family over the years.
Billy will be missed by many, especially his new great grandson who lit up his smile.
Billy married Della Maxine Buchan on May 15, 1955, and she survives. He is also survived by one son, Johnny Alford and wife Julie, Carl Junction, Missouri; one daughter, Pamela Stevenson and husband, Jim; six grandchildren, Shawna Williams, James, Alford, Jeremiah Arbuckle, Jordyn Alford, Josh Stevenson, Erica Walls (Mark); 10 great grandchildren, Aaron Arbuckle, Zoey Reynolds, Payton Alford, Caydence Alford, Lexis Sterling, Kaidens Sterling, Landyn Long, Jrs Long, Ayden Walls, Aston Walls, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Those serving as pallbearers are Cory Gatlin, Alex Gatlin, Jim Stephenson, and Jeremiah Arbuckle.
Graveside services will be 10:00 am Friday May 19, 2023, at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery with Pastor Gary Garrett officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory Joplin, Missouri.
