Obituary for Shirley Chambers (Boyd)
Shirley Chambers, age 87, of Joplin, Missouri passed away Wednesday February 22, 2023.
She was born March 24, 1935, in Webb City, Missouri to Paul Boyd and Helen Lorene (Thomas) Boyd, and was raised by her mother, Helen Lorene (Thomas) Spille and Glenn Spille.
Shirley worked as an administrator with banking. She loved volunteering with Crosslines and Joplin Association for the Blind. She was a long-time member of Park Plaza Christian Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir.
She married Leo Chambers, May 29, 1953 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas and he preceded her in death on September 27, 2016. She was also preceded in death by her parents.
Shirley is survived by five sons, David Chambers and wife Leona, Glenn Chambers and wife Lynn, Rodney Chambers and wife Debbie, Tim Chambers and wife Lorena, and Kevin Chambers and wife Penny; one brother, Dennis Spille; two sisters, Lucy Wuellner and Sue Barnett; 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren, as well as numerous extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Saturday February 25, 2023, at Mason-Woodard Mortuary with B.A. Austin and Mark Scott officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:00-7:00 pm Friday at the mortuary.
In lieu of flowers contributions are requested to Park Plaza Christian Church of Joplin Association for the Blind and my be sent in care of the mortuary.
