Obituary for Jerry Newcomb
Jerry Newcomb, age 72 of Joplin, passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2023 at Freeman Hospital.
Jerry was born on July 30, 1950, to Homer and Willa (Barker) Newcomb in Springfield, Missouri.
Jerry spent much of his work life as a warehouseman for Fleming Foods and Americold.
He was a member of Southside Baptist Church and faithfully served in missions for the church.
Jerry served in the United States Navy for six years.
He married Jeannie Danner on December 22, 1970 in Joplin, MO, and she survives. Additional survivors include 3 children, Jeremy Newcomb (wife Amy) of Durant, OK, Jarrod Newcomb (wife Audrey) of Joplin, MO, Janelle Clevenger (husband Delmar) of Joplin, MO, one brother Mike Newcomb of Clarksdale, Arizona, and one sister Janice Henderson of Carl Junction, MO; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Jerry enjoyed coaching his kid's sports, watching the Kansas City Chiefs and St. Louis Cardinals, fishing, grilling chicken, and serving in the church.
A Memorial Service will take place at 11:00 am Friday at Southside Baptist Church. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation at 10:00 am Prior to the Service.
Arrangements are under the direction of the family and Southside Baptist Church.
