Obituary for Kathryn Conrow (Ancel)

Kathryn L. Conrow passed from this world 1/22/2023. She was born to the late Ruth (Wagner) Ancel and Les J. Ancel in Des Moines, Iowa on September 28, 1944.

Kathy grew up in St. Louis, MO graduating from Bishop DuBourg High School in 1962 and St. Louis University in 1966 with a B.A. in Speech Therapy. In 1977, Kathy received a Master’s Degree from Ball State University in Indiana.

She married Dennis L. Conrow in 1991 and they have resided in Carthage & Joplin, MO. Kathy has 3 children from a previous marriage: Joseph Shields, III (Karen), Christine Kathryn Mukherjee (Keith), and Ann Elizabeth McEnroe (Andy). She also has two stepchildren, Trevor Conrow and Lacy Bogard. Kathy had eleven grandchildren and one great-grandson. She was proud of her grandchildren and their accomplishments. She was always ready to show her pride by sharing of pictures.

Kathy worked with adults and children to improve their language and speech skills. She did this at St. Johns Rehab, Sarcoxie schools and Carthage schools. Kathy retired from Carthage in 2001.

After retirement, she was active in P.E.O., Tea and Thee, Grace Episcopal Church, Meals on Wheels, Carthage Literacy Committee and in the events of “The Group.” She and her husband enjoyed traveling especially on an anniversary trip to Hawaii and bus trips with friends. Her favorite trip was to Washington, D.C. where she went to an Eagles’ concert. Kathy enjoyed antiquing and collecting Boyd’s Bears, Santas, and snowmen.

Kathy is survived by her children, stepchildren, her sister, Jodi Goodwin (Mike), of Houston, TX; nephews, nieces, grandchildren, great-grandchild, sisters-in-law, Debbie Rhodes (John), and Jeanne Forbes, her dog Maggie, and husband Dennis.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 26th, 2023, at Grace Episcopal Church in Carthage, Missouri.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 27th, 2023, Grace Episcopal Church in Carthage, Missouri. A private family Inurnment will follow the service.
