Obituary for Mildred Lorene Pogue

Mildred "Millie" Lorene Lyons Pogue, 81 of Neosho Mo passed away on January 6, 2023, after a long battle with cancer.

Millie was born to Sumner and Ershel Lyons on February 14, 1941, in Stella Mo. She graduated from Neosho High School. Upon graduating she moved to Kansas City and worked for Hallmark. Later moving back to the area working for Honeybear/Tyson Foods and later for Eagle Pitcher where she retired after 25 years of hard work. Millie was a hard worker her entire life. She didn't know a stranger and loved to meet new people. She was blessed to meet the love of her life and friend, Fred Wettstein whom she loved to take trips with and spend time making memories for almost 35 years. She also enjoyed time with family and friends. She loved to go to garage sales and find treasures. Her true passion in her downtime was to work in her yard with her flowers and garden. She loved to give to others and make them smile. Many people will remember her smile as it was infectious and love to see others happy.

She spent the last year and a half of her life at Oak Pointe in Neosho. She received a lot of love from the staff, and she also gave that love right back. I know many of the caregivers thought of her as family and a Mom to them. A special Thank you to all the staff for all the wonderful care during the last part of her life. You made it very special for her.

Millie is survived by her daughter and her Husband, Diane Wald (Richard Wald). Brothers and their wives, Clifford Lyons(Marty Lyons), Evert Lyons (Barbara Lyons), Richard Lyons( Gloria Lyons) and Sister and her Husband, Tammy Johnson (Jack Johnson). A sister-in-law, Cheryl Lyons. Also, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews who loved her.

Millie was preceded in death by her parents, Sumner and Ershel Lyons. A daughter, Pamela McKay. Brothers, Chester Lyons, Dale Lyons and Gail Lyons. Her friend, Fred Wettstein.

There will be a Celebration of Life at Hazelgreen Cemetary in Boulder City, Mo. A graveside service will be held on January 21, 2023, at 11 am.
