Obituary for J. O. Buxton
J.O. Buxton, age 87, Of Joplin, MO, passed away on Monday, October 17, 2022, at Mercy Hospital.
J.O. was born on March 25, 1935, in Rural Jasper County, the son of the late Junius and Hettie (Edwards) Buxton.
He worked many years for MODOT, as an Area Supervisor, retiring in 1996.
He was a member of Park Plaza Christian Church. He was also a member of the MODOT Retired Employee’s Group. In his free time J.O. enjoyed going fishing.
He married Jerri Sharp on December 25, 1953 in Carthage, MO, and she survives. Also surviving is his son, Stephen Buxton and his wife Chris, Joplin; a daughter-in-law, Ruth Buxton, Joplin, MO; a sister, Beverly Bradbury, of Alabama; four grandchildren, Chris Buxton and wife Tara, Brad Buxton and wife Amanda, Derek Buxton, and Stephanie Beattie and husband Dr. Sean Beattie; four great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
J.O. was preceded in death by a son Curtis Allen Buxton.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Mason-Woodard Chapel. The visitation will be 6-7 p.m. Friday at Mason-Woodard.
