Obituary for Dorothy Lee Williams

Dorothy Lee (Alumbaugh) Williams passed from this life, into the presence of her maker on Sunday, September 11, 2022, at 11:01 am. She was born on February 13, 1940 in Purcell, MO to Ralph Alumbaugh and Lottie Mae Alumbaugh. She was one of 9 siblings and was the last living member of her immediate family. She was raised in a very poor family, and learned to sew at an early age, as they had to make their own clothing including their own undergarments. Sewing became a passion as she grew older, into adulthood.

After graduating high school, she went to work at Elder’s, where she was a seamstress, making shirts. It was there, in 1958 that she met the love of her life, Joseph F. Williams who was a sewing machine mechanic. They were truly a match made in heaven. They began dating in August of that same year and were married on May 22, 1959. She continued working at Elder’s until April of 1964, when they adopted their first child, a daughter,
Brenda Lee. At that point, she became a stay-at-home mother, while also making clothing for people, as a way to earn extra money. In December of 1967 they adopted their second child, a son, Randy Joe. Randy preceded both parents in death, on April 19, 2004.

Dorothy continued a career as a seamstress, in various forms, including maintaining a tailoring business until her death. However, she made a change in her main career to medical records around 1992 and went to work for Freeman Hospital, from which she retired in 2015.

He husband Joe preceeded her in death on December 9, 2014. She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Koeshall, and husband Rick. They have a daughter, Amanda (Mandy) Cooper, and husband Peter. They also have a son Kristian Koeshall, and wife Shelby. Dorothy has two great-grandsons, Brody and Doyle Cooper. She also has quite an extended family, including many nieces and nephews.

She was very loved by her family and will be deeply missed.

Graveside services have been scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 16, 2022, at the Oronogo Cemetery. The family will receive friends during a time of visitation prior to the service beginning at 9:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
