Obituary for Beatrice Dininger (McKnight)

Beatrice Dininger age 90 on Sunday, August 7th went home to be with her Lord and Savior. She passed away at College View Manor, Joplin where she lived the past year and a half.

Bea was born on March 21, 1932 to William Orlando McKnight and Juanita (Butler) McKnight in Carterville, Missouri. She was the second child born to her parents. She grew up in Carterville and graduated from Carterville High School with the class of 1950.

While growing up in Carterville, Bea attended the Carterville Baptist Church and accepted Jesus Christ as her savior at an early age. She was involved with the girl’s auxiliary program at the church. As young girls, she and her sister, Gladys, sang duets at their church and other area churches. She also belonged to the Rainbow Girls organization. Bea’s Christian faith was always a very important part of her life. She was a three time cancer survivor and through each of these events and other health situations she always said that it was her faith in Jesus Christ that saw her through these times. She never was ashamed of sharing Jesus and her faith with anyone who would listen. A faithful prayer warrior, she prayed for her family members and friends daily.

Following graduation from high school, she married the love of her life, Kenneth Dininger on September 4th, 1950 in Noel, Missouri. She and Kenneth purchased a home in Carthage, Missouri and resided there for nearly 40 years. They had one daughter, Vicki Ann, who was born on March 26, 1955. Bea always said Vicki was the joy of their lives. They were members of the First Baptist Church in Carthage. Upon Kenneth’s retirement in 1992, they moved to the Briarbrook area of Carl Junction. At this time, they transferred their church membership to Emmanuel Baptist Church, Webb City. Bea enjoyed 66 wonderful years of marriage to her sweetheart until his passing on March 26, 2017.

Bea was employed by Consumers Market Grocery Store for over 20 years working in the bakery department at both the Joplin and Carthage stores. She loved her job and loved people and enjoyed meeting and visiting with those who stopped by her department. She was known to many of the children who visited the bakery as the “Cookie Lady”. There was always a cookie waiting for them. After retiring from Consumers she was employed by Walmart’s in Carthage for a couple of years until health issues dictated that she retire.
Bea had a kind and loving heart and always a smile to share. She never knew a stranger. She will be missed very much by her family, friends and those that knew her.
Over the years, she enjoyed attending area craft fairs with her daughter, cooking, reading her bible and playing dominos with her “domino girls”.

Bea was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth, her parents and her sister Gladys Tuggle. Also, preceding her in death was her two beloved kitties, Spooky and Toot Toot.

She is survived by her daughter Vicki Ann Coots and husband Jim, Carl Junction. A brother, Glen McKnight, Olathe, Ks. Two grandsons, Joey Coots and Jamie Coots, Joplin Missouri, two great-grandsons Dylan Coots, Joplin and Nicholas Brown, Carl Junction.
