On December 27, 1957 he married the love of his life, Blanche (Baugh) Flesher, and they spent the next 63+ years living out their vows to each other. They were blessed with two children, five grandchildren, with one great grandchild on the way.

George attended Alba Christian Church. George’s faith was the most important to him. Working for the Lord was his number one priority. He was the very definition of a Godly man. He served as Sunday School teacher, to many over the years, and for a short time, he served as pastor to the Salem United Methodist Churchon on the Baseline Road, Jasper. He baptized his father in law, Homer Baugh, brother-in law, Dick, and sister-in law Reatha, granddaughter, Martha, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends He spent countless hours preparing crafts and supplies for vacation bible school, and dressed up as bible characters as part of lessons.

George loved to be outside, whether it was camping, hunting, fishing, swimming, canoeing, playing baseball, softball, basketball, or playing golf, he loved it all. He also liked to coon hunt, deer hunt, ride mules, sing and play the guitar. He enjoyed watching sports with his family, especially if the team had one of his grandchildren on the roster. Family was important to him, and making sure that they all knew how important they were to him, and to the Lord was number one priority.

George and Blanche’s pastor, Rodger Hasselquist, came to their home the morning George passed. He prayed for George, Blanche, and the Family. He spoke to them from Psalms 23. It was the chapter George had taught his children when they were young and the last chapter read to him before he passed. It ended, “surely goodness and mercy are mine, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” George will be greatly missed, but his family knows that he is at home with the Lord, whole and at rest. Saying goodbye is hard, even knowing that it is just for a little while.

No services are planned at this time, thank you for your prayers.
