Obituary for Hazel Katherine McLaughlin (Shaner)

Hazel Kathrine McLaughlin passed from this earth Monday May 31, 2021 , at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, of a sudden illness.

She was Born August 15, 1941 to Reme and Hazel Shaner at Jane Chinn Hospital in Webb City Missouri. Hazel Shaner Graduated from Alba High School in 1959. She married Bill G. McLaughlin on August 18, 1964.

She was preceded in death by her Parents, Her Husband Bill McLaughlin and Two Children, a son John Richard and a daughter Mary Ann McLaughlin.

Survivors of her death are One Brother, Carl Shaner and wife Joanne, two nephews, Tim Shaner and wife of Carthage MO, Dale Shaner of Carthage, and one Niece, Linda Connell and husband of Carthage Mo. Hazel is survived of three Sons, Bill G. McLaughlin and wife Jill of Diamond Mo., Donald J. McLaughlin and wife Paula of Joplin Mo and Steven C. McLaughlin of Joplin MO. Two daughters Cynthia K. Greathouse and Husband Rob of Sarcoxie MO, Mischele Pooler and husband Terry of Joplin Mo.

Her Grandchildren were the apple of her Eyes they are, Ethan and wife Brandi, Isaac and wife Alyssia, Nevaeh, Arissa, Katie, Alyssa, Blake, Austin from son Bill Mclaughlin, Brittaney and husband Tim Fell, Shelby and Husband Ryan Landes, Laken and husband Jim Otto, Ashly and husband Forrest Keene, Austin Hauser and wife Madison of Cynthia Greathouse, Autumn and husband Ethan, Ashton, Steve, and Donald of Donald McLaughlin, Chris and wife Randi, of Mischele Pooler, Maddie and husband Gary of Steve McLaughlin.

Twenty-three great grand Children, Brackett and Baby on the way, Elaina, Gaberiel, Mariah, Haleigh, Christian, Nash, Keegan, Claire, Quinlee, Henry, baby Otto, Harper, Ava, Elaina, Trinity, Bentley, Temperance, Torie, Jade, Dominic and Kami, then one great, great grandchild, Camedon.
Hazel was a homemaker and had several odd jobs such as Waffle House and Board of Realtors, her hobbies were gardening, playing scrabble, playing with her grandchildren, and cooking. She tried her hand at Baking. She owned Hazel’s Bakery in which she leaves her baking legacy at the Webb City Farmers Market for 10 plus years. She loved her family deeply and had an honest love for the world. She never knew a stranger and if you needed anything she would be there. She leaves a Legacy of Love!

Funeral services have been scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 5, 2021 at the Mason-Woodard Chapel. Burial will follow at Osborne Memorial Cemetery in Joplin. The family will receive friends during a time of visitation on Friday evening from 6 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
