Obituary for Nancy L. Hirshey (Johnson)
Nancy L. Hirshey, age 81 of Duenweg, MO., passed away on Friday, May 14, 2021 at The Arbors in Joplin, MO., surrounded by her loving family.
Nancy was born on August 9, 1939 in Joplin, MO., the daughter of Porter and Pauline (Alexander) Johnson. She has been a lifetime area resident, Nancy worked as an accountant for Algier-Martin for 23 years before retiring in 2011. She was a member of the Stapleton Church of Christ. Nancy was also a member of the Women’s Club of Joplin, she enjoyed travelling and working on her garden.
She married J.D. Hirshey in 1959, he preceded her in death in 2007. Nancy was also preceded in death by her parents and by a sister, Mary Lou Gouge.
Survivors include a daughter; Shelly Wise and husband Leeman of Strafford, MO., a son; Erik Hirshey and wife Jamie of Joplin, a brother; Don Johnson of Duenweg, two sisters; Sue Taylor of Duenweg, Ruby Long of Elliot, ME., three grandchildren; Courtney LaTurner, Christopher Crowe and Kyra Hirshey, and two great-grandchildren, River and Roman.
Funeral services have been scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at the Mason-Woodard Chapel. Burial will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends during a time of visitation on Wednesday prior to the service beginning at 12:00 p.m.
