Obituary for Lawrence Ryun

Lawrence D. Ryun, age 81, of Joplin, Missouri, went to be with the Lord on May 7, 2021.

Larry graduated from Lamar High School in 1957. He attended college at Wichita State and served a combined 28 years in the Army Reserves and fulltime Missouri Army National Guard as a recruiter. He served on the Jasper County Sheriff’s Patrol, was a former member of the Antique Automobile Club of America and was a Mason.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elwin and Virgie Ryun of Jasper, one brother, Wayne Ryun, one son, David Ryun, and a son-in-law, Bob Roth.

His quick wit and jovial humor will be missed by his hunting friends, band friends, and loved ones.

He leaves behind his best friend and wife, Reba Ryun, one brother, Kent Ryun and wife Marilyn; daughter, Leasa Ryun Moffatt and husband Tony, daughter Tresa Ryun Roth; step-son, Stephen Elder and wife Cora; 14 grandchildren and 1 great grandson; and many cousins.

Larry often spoke of his thankfulness for God’s goodness, grace and provision.

Cremation services are being provided by Mason-Woodard Mortuary and Crematory.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Joplin Humane Society to honor Larry’s lifetime love of animals.
