Obituary for Joyce K. Turner (Whitlock)
Joyce K. Turner, age 69, of Joplin, passed away on Saturday January 23, 2021, at Mercy hospital, following an illness.
Joyce was born on August 18, 1951 in Joplin, the daughter of the late Leroy and Twila (Lavelle) Whitlock. She has been a lifetime area resident. She married Dan L. Turner on September 15, 1972 in Joplin. She worked in the offices of Freeman Hospital. She was a longtime member of Central Christian Center, where she was an active member of Golden Woven. She enjoyed reading, coffee dates, travelling with her sisters, and encouraging others to “just breathe”.
Joyce was preceded in death by her husband Dan Turner on May 21, 2015; a granddaughter, Dawnya Turner and by three brothers. She is survived by three sons, Juston Turner and wife LaDawn, Neosho, MO, Mike Turner and wife Joan, Guthrie, OK, and Dan Turner and wife Crystal, Joplin; one daughter, Lacanda “Candy” Mikeska and husband Anthony, Morris, OK; one brother, Jim Whitlock and wife Ruth, Joplin; twelve grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday at Mason-Woodard Chapel. Reverend Doug Wilkerson will officiate. Burial will be in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 6-7:00 p.m. Thursday at Mason-Woodard Mortuary.
Arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
