Obituary for James W. Lee
James “Jim” Lee, Jr., 87, of Carthage, passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at the Sarcoxie Nursing Center, Sarcoxie, MO.
Jim, the son of the late James W. and Esther (Phillips) Lee, Sr., was born on November 28, 1932 in Carthage, MO. Jim served his country in the United States Navy. Jim worked for himself on their farm raising crops and some cattle, and in the winter worked for Jones Bros. Construction Company. He enjoyed raising registered collies and riding horses.
He married the love of his life, Marianna Grant, on November 24, 1954. Additional survivors include a daughter, Susan Foster and her husband Steve of Wright City, MO; a granddaughter, Jennifer Mosby and her husband Colby of Bella Vista, AR., two great-grandchildren, Alana and Josiah; one brother Tom Lee and wife Barbara of Four Oaks, NC; two sisters, Phyllis Anne Gatliff of Carthage, MO and Lois Bradley of Durham, NC.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Mason-Woodard Chapel. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time Tuesday at the Mortuary. Burial will follow the service at the Sarcoxie Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Souls Harbor of America of Joplin in care of the mortuary.
