Obituary for Lydia Diane Beaver

Lydia Beaver, age 23, passed from this life to her heavenly home on June 30, 2020. Lydia was born December 8, 1996 to Tom and Beth Buford in Joplin, Missouri. Growing up on a farm, she had many vivid memories of homeschooling with her sister, Sarah, practicing piano and flute, playing with her dog, and working cattle with her father. She prayed with Sarah and accepted Jesus as her Savior at a young age. She grew up attending church at Silver Moon Full Gospel Church and served the Lord there, leading worship in Children’s Church and in her youth group.

Lydia attended College Heights Christian School beginning in the 7th grade, where she graduated with honors in 2015. She is lovingly remembered by her high school peers and teachers as an incredibly hard worker, a loyal friend, and a devoted Christ follower. She was very active, participating in activities such as cheerleading, theater, band, track and cross-country. Lydia graduated from Missouri Southern State University with her Masters in Accountancy in May of 2020 and had begun studying for her CPA exams.

Lydia married Ryan Beaver on May 28, 2016. They met at College Heights, where they participated in many of the same extracurricular activities. As a member of the cheerleading squad, Lydia cheered for Ryan at many of his basketball games. They enjoyed a vibrant marriage, demonstrating to all who knew them the power of a Christ-centered, committed relationship. Ryan’s family loved Lydia dearly, as one of their own.

Lydia was a wonderfully talented, highly motivated individual and an adept leader. She blessed her home church of Scotland Church of God with her musical gifts, serving as the Sunday worship team leader there. She also managed the accounting department at Certified Express, Inc. as she finished her degree, demonstrating her unusual work ethic and discipline. However, no matter how busy she was with her work, school, and her home life, Lydia always managed to make time for some of her favorite activities - playing board games with friends and family, playing with her dogs, and shopping for good deals.

Above all else, Lydia will be remembered as a faithful follower of Jesus Christ. Her love for the Lord was evident in the inspiring way she lived her life and serves as a comfort to her family and friends in the wake of her passing.

Lydia is survived by her husband of four years, Ryan Beaver, Joplin. She is also survived by her parents, Tom and Beth Buford of Neosho, her sister and spouse, Sarah and Riley Woolridge of Yuma, Arizona, and her Maternal Grandmother, Pauline McGuire, Joplin. Other survivors include Ryan’s parents, Doug and Nina Beaver, Diamond, Ryan’s siblings, Ethan and Judith Beaver (Elizabeth and Joel), Carthage, Emily Beaver, Joplin, Josh and Savannah (Beaver) Aleckson, Joplin.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 3 at 2:00 p.m, at College Heights Christian Church Worship Center with Pastor Phil Barber officiating. Private family burial will follow. Due to Covid-19 the family has asked that masks be worn. Memorial gifts may be made in Lydia’s name to Camp Sharon where she spent her summer vacations working with children.

The family will receive friends 5-7:00 p.m. Thursday at College Heights Christian Church Worship Center.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
