Obituary

Dorothy Mae Burnett, age 74 of Joplin, Mo., passed away early Sunday, June 14, 2020 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Dorothy’s friends and coworkers called her Dee. Dee was an avid flower gardener and bird watcher. She was a devoted member and ordained priest of Community of Christ Church, a church she whole heartedly loved.

She married Bob Burnett on February 26, 1966, he survives. Additional survivors include a daughter, Whitney Outain of Joplin; a son, Scott Burnett of Denver, Co.; two brothers, Gordon Johnson and wife Donna of Pleasant Hill, Mo., Ronald Johnson and wife Martha of Tolland, Ct.; and two granddaughters, Abbey Outain and Annie Outain.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and by a brother, Glen Johnson.

Dorothy and I grew up together on South Savage Street in Independence, MO. I have many happy memories of playing together, participating together in Skylarks and Orioles, and attending Eden Heights church. She was a lovely woman who grew more beautiful as the years passed. My condolences to her family. She will be remembered with smiles. Gloria Bain Crull
