Obituary for Gerald Dane "Jerry" vonGonten
Gerald “Jerry” Dane vonGonten, 89 of Joplin, Mo., left this Earth to be with his Lord on Tuesday, May 26, 2020.
Jerry was born on May 8, 1931 in Sapulpa, Ok., to Fitzgerald and Madge vonGonten, both deceased, one brother; Johnny, deceased. He graduated from Sapulpa in 1949, later moving to Joplin to attend Ozark Bible College. Where he met his wife Rethel Walker, through Villa Heights Christian Church, where they were married on April 4, 1952 and were lifelong members.
He is survived by 2 daughters; Diana Allison, Dana and husband Jeff Guleserian, one son; Dale vonGonten and wife Robin, 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Jerry worked for many years as a route salesman for Kitty Clover Potato Chips, Wonder Bread, Clean Coveralls and Butternut Bread until he retired in 1985.
The family request contributions be made to Villa Heights Christian Church in care of the mortuary.
The family will be holding private services.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
