Obituary for Gary Myrle Atkinson
Gary Atkinson, age 83 of Joplin, Missouri passed away Thursday May 21, 2020.
He was born January 19, 1937 in La Russell, Missouri to Russell and Geraldine (Wooten) Atkinson.
Gary served in the United States Air Force and after his service he worked as a plant manager for FAG in Memphis, Tennessee, a supervisor at LaBarge, and most recently for Food 4 Less in Joplin, Missouri.
He married Mary Shryock On June 19, 1957 and she preceded him in death.
He is survived by three daughters, Rhonda Atkinson, Pam Bannister, Heather Henson all of Joplin, Missouri; one sister, Gloria Holmes; 10 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren as well as extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Wednesday at the Mason-Woodard chapel. Burial with military honors will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:00 -7:00 pm Tuesday at the mortuary.
Arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary and Crematory Joplin, Missouri.
