Obituary for Johnnie Mack Smith
Johnnie Mack Smith, age 78 of Joplin, MO. passed away Friday, May 1, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Johnnie was born on July 22, 1941 in Neosho, MO. the son of Sisal and Leafie (Lafoon) Smith. Johnnie proudly served his country first as part of the U.S. Air Force then as part of the U.S. Army until he retired in 2001. He moved back to the area in 2003. Johnnie and his family were once members of Duenweg Baptist Church. He loved spending time with friends and family.
Survivors include four daughters; Johnna Dickens and husband Jimmie of Springfield, MO., Tina Garaldo and husband Antonio of Miami, OK., Stefani Robin of Miami, Angela Chinoweth and husband Derrick of Melbourne, Fl., three sons; Toby Smith and wife Heidi of Welch, OK., Gerald Smith and wife Rhonda of Blue Springs, MO., Logan Smith and his domestic partner Hannah Goodman of New York, N.Y., three sisters; Janet Smith of Carthage, MO., Joannas Smith of Webb City, MO., Valerie Martin of Joplin, one brother; Rodger Smith of Webb City, 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Johnnie was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Russell Smith, and a sister, Jeannie Binge.
Funeral services have been scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Thursday, May 7, 2020 at the Mason-Woodard Chapel. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery near Neosho, MO. The family will receive friends during a time of visitation from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
