Obituary

Zane Livengood, 89, of Joplin, MO. passed away March 7, 2020, after a courageous battle with COPD.

He was the youngest child born to Leo and Elsie Livengood on Oct. 23, 1930. He is pre-deceased by 3 brothers and 1 sister. He is survived by his only child, Sue Livengood (Shannon Edwards), of Mesa, Az., also, nieces and nephews.

Zane was a very proud Navy Veteran who served during the Korean War as a ground Control Specialist (Radar Unit). After an Honorable Discharge, Zane began working at IBM in 1955. He enjoyed numerous promotions due to his leadership, integrity and fairness. He retired as an Executive after 30+ years. During his retirement, he worked part time as a Source Quality Inspector for various local companies and at the MO Welcome Center. Zane’s leisure time was spent traveling, taking cruises, restoring old John Deere tractors, giving tours at Precious Moments and socializing with friends. Zane was a kind and gentle man who will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Per his wishes, he requested no funeral or flowers. Visitation will be held at Mason-Woodard on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 from 5pm to 6pm. Final internment will be in the family plot, Morrill, KS. Breathe easy Dad. You are forever loved.

Tammy Miller

One of the absolute sweetest, most genuine men I have ever met. He instantly became a part of our family. We always enjoyed our visits and listening to his stories of his vast experiences. He was so proud of his military service, and deservedly so. Those experiences obviously shaped who he was. He had an infectious smile and contagious laugh. He loved being around the children, and he was so very special to them. I only wish we could have spent more time together and had a chance to say goodbye. Breathe easy sweet Zane. You will be dearly missed.

I totally agree with all that Tammy Miller wrote. Her Mom, Fern Coleman, and I have been good friends for years. I remember Zane as always having a smile on his face, laughing and joking. He was a storyteller, proud of his military service and always remained very patriotic! He was very proud of his daughter, Sue. We attended pulmonary rehabilitation together for several years. He was a very good friend and would always help with anything when he was able! I know he is flying high! Breath Easy now Sweet Zane! RIP
