Obituary for Roxanne Blatz (Bebee)

Roxanne Bebee Blatz, age 62, of Placitas, NM passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 2019 in the presence of her loving family and husband. Mrs. Blatz, daughter of the late John and Carol (Henson) Bebee, was born on September 19, 1957 in Albuquerque, NM. Roxanne also lived in Kansas City, Tulsa, Carthage and Joplin attending St Mary’s and McAuley. She earned her degree in civil engineering from the University of Missouri in December 1978. On December 30, 1978 in Columbia, MO she was united in marriage to Roger Blatz. After marrying Roger, she lived in Kansas City for two years. They moved to New York City for 21 years where she became the head of the structures department at Goodkind & Odea, now Dewberry, Inc. In 2002 she moved to Albuquerque where she worked for Bernalillo County, Paikai and AECOM. She is well known in the engineering community in New Mexico and a member of the Rio Rancho Astronomical Society. Roxanne loved to read, play cards and crossword puzzles, do photography and travel. She trained at the World Seido Karate Organization for 17 years reaching 4th degree black belt. She taught an adult white belt class, kids’ classes and a class for blind students. Roxanne has traveled many places including Canada, Europe, South Africa, Japan, Australia and New Zealand as well as many places in the US. She was proud of and loved her many nieces and nephews.

Survivors include her husband, Roger Blatz, of Placitas, NM; one brother, Dale Bebee, and his wife, Amy, of Carl Junction; three sisters, Dianna Riner, and her husband, Jim, of Springdale, AR, Marianne Clark, and her husband, John, of Powhatan Point, OH, and Frances Boyd, and her husband, Danny, of Purdy; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Mason-Woodard Mortuary in Joplin, 3701 E. 7th Street Joplin, MO 64801. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at 2:00 pm at the Mason-Woodard Mortuary in Joplin. Memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society-Gateway Chapter and may be entrusted to the mortuary.
