Obituary for Deborah Diaz

Deborah Ann Diaz, age 66, of Joplin, MO. passed on to her Heavenly reward on Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at her home. Ms. Diaz, daughter of the late William and Alberta (Younts) Brown, was born on July 22, 1953 in Wichita, KS. Deborah grew up in the Aurora, MO. area. She was employed at the Tuberculosis Sanitorium in Mt. Vernon, MO. and graduated from Aurora High School. Soon after she moved to California where she lived most of her adult life in the Nipomo area. On June 4, 1972 in Bakersfield, CA, she was united in marriage to Frank Diaz, Jr. In 2016 she moved to the Joplin area to be closer to family. During her time in Joplin, Deborah was a member of The Sanctuary of Joplin Church and previously employed with Monett Health Care of Monett and Magnolia Manor of Purdy. She enjoyed singing and playing music at her home, family events and at church and had a deep love and care for rescue animals.


Survivors include her three sons, Chris Diaz, of Joplin, MO. William Diaz, of Nipomo, CA, and Brian Diaz, and his wife, Rebecca, of Nipomo, CA; two step-sons, Orlando Diaz, of Nipomo, CA, and Frank Diaz, III, of Litchfield, CT; two brothers, Tim and his wife Carrie of Aurora, MO. and Brian Brown of Aurora, MO; three sisters, Sherry Whisman, and her husband, Gary, of Guadalupe, CA, LaDonna Hillis, of Cassville, MO. and Charlotte Brown, of Tulsa, OK; She had five grandchildren; a three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by Frank Diaz, Jr.; two sisters, LaWanna Young, and Linda “Diane” Dillion; and one grandson, Orlando “Troy” Diaz, Jr.


Visitation will be friday Oct 25 6pm-8pm at The Sanctuary of Joplin 1831 S. Conner ave. (corner of 19th and Conner) Joplin, Missouri. Celebration of life service will be Oct. 26 at 5pm at the Sanctuary of Joplin. with Rev. Michael Gates and Rev. Rex Robertson ministering. Also a Celebration of Life service will be held on Oct. 31 at 5pm at Revival Tabernacle 105 S. Broadway ( corner of Clark and Broadway Orcutt, Ca. with Rev. Oscar Garcia and Rev Jesse Pinheiro ministering. Interment will be at Santa Maria Cemetery Santa Maria, Ca. Cremation arrangements are under the care and direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory, Joplin.
