Obituary for Valerie Ann Jinks (Erstad)

Valerie Ann Jinks, lovingly known as Val, fell peacefully into the arms of her Heavenly Father while surrounded by close family and dear friends on September 20, 2019.

Val was born in Grants, NM on March 21, 1964. She was the daughter of Ken and Lorraine (Gregory) Erstad. She spent the early years of her life living in Colorado, a place she loved dearly and would return to visit often in her adult years. In 1979, she moved with her family to Welch, OK where she would meet Jeffrey Jinks, her high school sweetheart, who would become her husband and the love of her life. Jeff and Val were married on December 31, 1982, he survives.

Jeff and Val grew their family, having 4 boys and one ‘adopted’ son. Val loved nothing more than being Mimi to her eight grandchildren. Val retired as an Administrative Assistant for Diamond Schools, where she worked for 17+ years. Jeff and Val were both active and faithful members of Faith Assembly of God in Joplin, MO.

Additional survivors include her father Ken Erstad and wife Sharon; sons, Andrew Jinks and wife Leah of Joplin, Christopher Jinks and wife Shelby of Diamond, Justin Jinks of Overland Park, KS, Ryan Jinks and wife Kahla of Diamond, Carl Quirong and wife Sanchia of Bartlesville, OK; sister, Lorei Hemberger and husband Shane of Coweta, OK; brothers, Loren Erstad and wife Carolyn of West Siloam Springs, OK and Darren Erstad and wife Tara of Claremore, OK; and grandchildren, Jovie, Sydnee, Annaleigh, Fletcher, Oliver, Nichole, Cassie and Levi; along with many nieces and nephews. Val was preceded in death by her mother Lorraine Erstad.

The family will receive friends during a time of visitation from 6:00 - 7:00p.m. on Thursday, September 26, 2019 at Mason Woodard Mortuary in Joplin, MO. Her life celebration service is scheduled for 2:00 PM on Friday, September 27, 2019 at Faith Assembly of God Church in Joplin, MO. In lieu of flowers a scholarship fund has been created in memory of Val for her love of the students at Diamond Schools.
