Obituary for Jack "Allyn" Reding
Jack “Allyn” Reding, age 63, of Duenweg, MO, passed away on Friday July 5, 2019 at Freeman Hospital, following a sudden illness.
Allyn was born on February 23, 1956 in Joplin the son of Jack D. and June (Cossey) Reding. He has been a lifetime resident of Duenweg. He graduated from Parkwood High School in 1974. He married his high school sweetheart, Mona VanFleet on June 6, 1975 in Duenweg. Together they raised three children. He instilled in his children the importance of a strong work ethic, and that it is important to lend a helping hand to others. Family was very important to Allyn. He was a wonderful grandfather.
Allyn began his working career at Atlas Powder Company where he worked for twenty-five years. He was dedicated to his community. He became a member of the Duenweg Volunteer Fire Department when he was a teenager. In 1998 he became the Chief of the Duenweg Volunteer Fire Department. He spent many years training and teaching others to be the best firefighters that they could be. He was a member of the Ozark Gateway Fire Chiefs Association and the Jasco Board.
Allyn leaves behind his wife of forty-four years, Mona Reding, Duenweg, MO; three children, Jason Reding and wife Starr, Duenweg, MO; Stefanie Allen and husband Gabe, Joplin, MO, and Corey Reding and wife Shelly, Joplin, MO, his parents, Jack and June Reding, Duenweg, MO; his mother and father in-law, Barbara and Jim VanFleet, Duenweg, MO; two brothers, Brent Reding, Carthage, MO, and Howard Reding and wife Bev, Carthage, MO; seven grandchildren, Cole and Harris Allen, Ryder, Kylie and Ayden Reding, and Emily and Haylea Reding; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at LifePoint Pentecostal Church. Reverend Rex Robertson and Andy Nimmo will officiate. Burial will be in Belfast Cemetery, near Neosho, MO.
The visitation will be 5-7 p.m. on Monday at Life Point Church. Memorial contributions may be given to the Chief Allyn Reding Memorial Firefighting Training Fund in care of the mortuary.
