Obituary

David Alexander Peterson, age 54, of Diamond MO, went home to be with Jesus on May 5, 2019, He passed unexpectedly, but peacefully, while asleep at home.

He was survived by the love of his life, Leah Peterson of twenty-five plus years, who he married on November 7, 1993, and his three sons whom he loved dearly, Brennon Alexander Peterson and fiancé Beth Vernon, Dakota Benjamin Morales, and Nathon “Chase” Peterson and fiancé Kyla Marlin. He was the son of the late Vernon “Ben” Peterson. He is also survived by his mother Patricia Weise and his siblings: Benjamin Joseph Peterson and wife Emily, Patricia Suzanne Harkins and husband Kevin, Elizabeth Peterson and fiancé Mike Avery, Robert Lynn Peterson and wife Sharon. Also survived by many nieces and nephews: Nena Gates and husband Derrick and children Jessie Lynn, Derrick and Savannah, Benji Peterson and wife Heidsha and daughter Norrén, Merrie Tang and children, Mollie, Livie, Memphis, Sierra Lawyer and her husband Jared, Kalen Thomas and wife Monica, Tyler Beau Thomas, Jessica Connor and husband Bryson and children Paslie, Deklan, and Zaylie, and Rebekah Thomas. And his best friend of forty years, Jeff Kuhns and wife Kimberly and their four children.

David was a Joplin native and co/founder of Glory Days Music for twenty-three years. He was born on September 9, 1964 in Independence, MO. His love for music started at a young age. He was a brilliant musician and vocalist, guitarist (rock, blues, slide, country), fiddler, pianist, keyboardist, singer, and songwriter. He cut his teeth as a musician on classic rock bands. He performed with his brothers and sisters as The Peterson Siblings at the Route 66 Music Theatre in Webb City, MO. He was an integral member of many other iterations of bands with family and friends across the county. He was a proud local business man that supported other local businesses. Additionally, he was a carpenter, planner, dreamer and so much more. There are so many awesome aspects of Davey’s life you could write a book on each one of them. He was a loving Christian man who was an awesome son, husband, father, brother and friend sharing rich and fun memories with many. Davey was always there with a smile to remind you that he loved you and was proud of you. He was a lover of nature and animals, starting his day with a warm cup of coffee on a brisk morning and a dog ready to be walked. He loved to grill for the family and holiday events, and it is often said there is a photo of him of all ages in front of a grill. Most importantly he loved everyone and was loved by everyone. He was very much in love with life. He left this world in peace - a happy man. He will be greatly missed, remaining in our hearts forever.
