Obituary for Patricia Lee Gilbert (Smith)

Patricia L. Gilbert, age 75 of Joplin, Mo. passed away on Saturday, March 10, 2018.

Patricia was born on August 9, 1942 in Kansas City, Mo. and was the daughter of Julian and Gertrude (Wiesing) Smith. Patricia worked as an Accounts Representative for Freeman Health System before retiring in 2007. She is a member of the LDS Church in Joplin. Patricia loved to spend time with her family, doing genealogy, crocheting and teaching Sunday school.

She married Charles H. Gilbert on August 31, 1963, he preceded her in death on October 16, 1994, she was also preceded by her parents. Survivors include her daughter Michelle Schopper and husband John of Joplin, three sons; Edward Gilbert and wife Yvonne of Dolores, Co., Ronald Gilbert of Joplin, Robert Gilbert and wife Jennifer of Joplin, a step-daughter; Celene Gay and husband Ron of Wallowa, Or., one brother; Ronald Smith of Lee Summit, Mo., three sisters; JoAnn Howard of Kansas City, Donna Popplewell of Joplin, Mo., Jeannine Parkinson of Kansas City, eleven grandchildren; Jamie Gilbert, Lindsey Rawlins, Austin Gilbert, Jessica Gilbert, Emily Gilbert, Garrett Gilbert, Jordyn Gilbert, Harlie Valdez, Brendan Gilbert, Abigail Gilbert and Aubrie Schopper, nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Services have been scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Joplin. Burial will follow at Saginaw Cemetery. The family will receive friends during a time of visitation from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday evening at Mason-Woodard.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
