Wanda Allgood, age 97, of Joplin, passed away on Thursday October 26, 2017, at the Communities of Wildwood, following an illness.

Wanda was born on January 20, 1920 in Atchison, Kansas, the daughter of the late William and Lela (Carson) Koppa. She graduated from Atchison High School. She married Tommy Allgood on July 9, 1938. Because of her husband’s twenty-five year Army career, they lived in multiple places in the United States, and also abroad, in Germany and Japan. They moved to Joplin in 1956 after his retirement. Wanda was in the 2nd licensed practical nursing class at Franklin Technical School. She worked many years as a LPN for Freeman Hospital, Dr. Juliette Eliscu, Oak Hill Hospital, Jane Chinn Hospital and Spring River Christian Village. She also worked for Mason-Woodard Mortuary, Precious Moments, AFBC as a cook, and as a babysitter.

Wanda was a member of Southside Apostolic Faith Church. She was a very active church member. She was one of the founding members and the first president of the Surviving Spouses. She will be remembered as a very kind and happy person.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Dennie Oakes, Joplin; four granddaughters, Carla Wilson and husband Dwight, Tamara Dorris and husband Joel, Valerie Fleming, and Vanessa Harris and husband Seldon; seventeen great-grandchildren; and fourteen great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Tommy Allgood in 1975; an infant son, Ronnie Allgood in 1939; a granddaughter, Lisa Dorris in 1990; a great-grandson, John Isaac Fleming in 2014; and two brothers, Herbert Koppa and Karl Koppa.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday at Southside Apostolic Faith Church in Joplin. Grandsons-in-law, Dwight Wilson, Joel Dorris, and Seldon Harris will officiate. Burial will be in G.A.R. Cemetery in Miami, Ok. The pallbearers will be her great-grandsons.
