Obituary for Howard Field

Howard W. Field, age 92 of Grove, OK passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2017, at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, MO following an illness.

Howard was born on April 18, 1925 in Newton, MA, the only child of Willis and Clema (Harvey) Field. He graduated from Newton High in 1942 and then enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He proudly served his country aboard the USS Hamlin in the South Pacific during World War II at Iwo Jima, Okinawa, and Tokyo Bay when the Japanese surrendered ending the war. Following his service, Howard returned home and worked for the city of Newton while earning a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration - Engineering from Northeastern University Boston in 1957. After receiving his degree, he went to work for Citgo Petroleum retiring in 1987.
He has been a resident of Grove for the past 2 years moving to the area from Naperville, IL after residing there for over 30 years.

He married his childhood sweetheart Marjorie Jenkins in1947 in Newton, MA, she survives. Additional survivors include two sons; William Field and wife Felicia Nguyen of Irvine, CA, Kenneth Field and wife Elsie of Grove, eight grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services have been scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at the Missouri Veteran’s Cemetery in Springfield, Mo.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
