Obituary for Ida Ruth Yeager

Ida “Ruth” Yeager, age, 86, of Joplin, Mo., passed away on Monday July 29, 2013, at Freeman Hospital, following an extended illness.
Ruth was born on March 18, 1927 in De Soto, Ia., the daughter of the late Walter and Mary (Adams) Cunningham. She has been an area resident most of her life. She worked for Sears & Roebuck as a sales supervisor for many years, retiring in 1984. She was a member of the Villa Heights Christian Church. Ruth was also a member of the Spring River Christian Auxiliary, ESA, and the St. John’s (Mercy) Ladies Auxiliary. She was an avid reader.
She married Carl Yeager on June 23, 1946 in Joplin, he preceded her in death in 2001. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Frank Cunningham and Al Cunningham; and one sister, Berniece Bardmass.
Ruth is survived by one son; Tom Yeager and his wife Kathy, Joplin; one daughter, Carla Houghton and her husband Ken, Wentzville, Mo.; three grandchildren, Heather Workman and husband Shannon, Lora Tresner and husband Allan, and Carrie Burks; and ten great-grandchildren, Sean Ball, Zachary Ball, Lacey Ball, Joshua Workman, Josiah Workman, Mariam Workman, Dayton Greek, Addyson Greek, Jonathan Tresner, and Cynthia Tresner.
Funeral services have been scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Mason-Woodard Chapel. Truman Brady, Minister, will officiate. Burial will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. The pallbearers will be her great-grandsons and grandson-in-law. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday 6-7 p.m.
