Thomas Land, Jr., age 75, of Carthage, Mo., went home to the Lord on Monday August 6, 2012, at his home.
Tom was born on December 27, 1936 in Adams, Indiana the son of the late Thomas Land, Sr. and Ruth (Campbell) Land-Tuttle. He worked for Cummings Diesel as a shop foreman and retired from Vickers as a superintendent. He was also owner of Stevenson Builders in Washington State. He was a Christian. He enjoyed fishing and working puzzles.
He is survived by three sons; Thomas Land, III, Greensburg, In., Christopher Land, of Minnesota, and Timothy Land, Bargarville, In.; two step-sons, Michael Southard, Joplin, and John Lester Southard, Oronogo, Mo.; one step-daughter, Mira Spiva, Webb City, Mo.; one brother,, Jerry D. Land; two sisters, Evelyn Sackett and Mary Coffey; and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jennifer Powers; and a step-daughter, Donna Dalton.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday at Mason-Woodard Chapel. Pastors Michael and Tammie Southard will officiate. Burial will be in Fullerton Cemetery, south of Carthage, Mo.
The family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m. Friday prior to the service at 2:00 p.m.
