Frances Ann “Fran” Jones, age 78, of Joplin, Missouri, passed away at 4:35 p.m. Sunday, March 18, 2018 at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Fran was born April 15, 1939 in Allen, Oklahoma. She graduated from Elmore City High School where she was an All-State Basketball player and was later named to the Oklahoma All Decade Basketball Team. She graduated from East Central State in Ada, Oklahoma and attended West Texas State and Oklahoma University. Fran became a school teacher, teaching English and Speech in Sunray and Hereford, Texas; Pittsburg, Kansas; and Joplin. She moved to Joplin in 1968 where she and her husband own the Radio Shack Stores.
Fran was a member of Emmanuel Baptist in Webb City and proclaimed her love of Christ through her involvement in the lives of her family, church, and Sunday School class.
Fran married Ronald Lee Jones December 27, 1958 in Elmore City, Oklahoma and he survives. Additional survivors include two sons, Phil Jones and wife Peggy, Branson, Mo. and Scott Jones and wife Ley, Dallas, Texas., one daughter, Stephanie Alumbaugh and husband Pedren, Carthage, Mo., one brother, James Phillips, Elmore City, Oklahoma and 9 grandchildren; Jeremy and wife Kayla, Ansley, Josh, Avery, Krissy, Ben, Lilly, and Aidan.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday at Emmanuel Baptist with Rev. Kyle Beverlin officiating. Burial will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. Thursday at Emmanuel. Memorial contributions are requested to Life Choices in care of the Mason-Woodard Mortuary. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mason-Woodard Mortuary of Joplin, Mo.
