Ozark Memories

Jeanne was more than an aunt to me. She and Joe gave me my first real job teaching me the importance of hard work and responsibilities. Learning and sharing her understanding of that knowledge was a big part of who Jean was, but her biggest joy in life was serving God. Her love for him ws evident in the way she gave of herself and all that she had.

Family and home was important to Jeanne. She loved her children and grandchildren. She loved telling all about their lives and sharing her photos. She and Joe had a romance that never died. My husband and I visited with them last September. I'll never forget how they looked like newlyweds together, hand in hand as we visited a quaint town known as "Little Switzerland" in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. We loved Land of the Ozarks which had a beautiful chapel in the woods that we sat quietly in together and gave reverence to God. She left with tears in her eyes. In Oklahoma she told us about the Indians who lived in the area. Johnny Carson used to spend summers at Monkey Island that  we visited. The trout hatchery at the Roaring River State Park was beautiful and she enjoyed holding tightly onto Joe.

The best memory of the trip was when she laughed and told us about Joe and a college friend finding relics they found and wanted to look at under the microscope in the lab but they mysteriously disappeared overnight.

Jeanne was an intelligent, beautiful, caring, giving and fun loving lady that I'll never forget.
