Obituary for Virginia Lee Asher (Halterman)
Webb City, Mo.- Virginia Lee Asher, 79, died February 3, 2016 at Webb City Health and Rehabilitation. She was born May 26, 1936 in Kansas City, Mo. the only child of Dawson Alaska Halterman and Rosa Alice Moyer Halterman. She grew up on the family farm near Braymer, Mo. Married to David Lee Asher of Hutchinson, Ks. in 1956 until divorced in 1984. She worked at Cessna Fluid power of Hutchinson for 12 years while raising two sons. She moved back to Braymer in 1982 to care for her mother Rosa until Rosa’s death in 1994. Virginia moved to Joplin in 1997 to live with her son John.
She is survived by her son Dawson Lee and daughter-in-law Sherry Asher, grandchildren Alexandria Elizabeth and William Dawson Asher of Mount Clemens Mi., Sister-in-law Dorothy Cutliff of Hutchinson, Ks. and her son and primary care giver John William Asher of Joplin Mo.
A family held memorial service has been scheduled at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 6, 2016 at the South Joplin Christian Church. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 17, 2016 in Braymer, Mo. on February17, 2016 at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be sent to the Braymer Methodist Church in Braymer, Mo.
