Obituary for Jerry Leon Yeager

Jerry L. Yeager, age 70, of Carterville, MO passed away at 6:50 a.m. Saturday, September 25, 2010 at his home.
Jerry was born July 16, 1940 in the Lakeside Community, east of Carterville to Harry and Verna Gibby Yeager. He was a graduate of Webb City High School and attended Missouri Southern State College. Jerry served in the U.S. Navy from 1962-1965 as a guided missile technician. He served on the U.S.S. Oklahoma during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Jerry worked for Merle Norman Cosmetics in California until 1976 when he returned to Webb City. In 2000 they built a home next to the family home in Carterville. He was co-owner of Yellow Dog Mining Co. Antiques in Webb City where he beautifully refinished antique furniture. Another passion was saving and restoring hand hewn log cabins.
Jerry married Carolyn Arnold September 23, 1962 in Torrance, California and she survives. Additional survivors include three sons, Robert Arnold-Yeager and wife Charline, Sarcoxie, MO, Richard Arnold-Yeager and wife Michelle, Joplin, MO,Link Yeager, Granby, MO, 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren,and his companion Terry dog.
Graveside services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Carterville Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service at the family home in Carterville. Memorial contributions are requested to your favorite charity in Jerry’s honor. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hedge-Lewis Funeral Home of Webb City, MO.
